MP3: “Come On Over”

UK band Veronica Falls recently announced that it has signed with Slumberland Records for the US for its debut LP, due Sept. 20. Today the band shares a free download from the new LP, “Come On Over” which you can hear here. A rollicking slice of infectious noir-pop, it recalls the Velvet Underground at their finest and has become a live favorite, teetering just on the edge of chaos.

The band have already cast their gorgeously beguiling spell on listeners with their previous singles “Found Love in a Graveyard” and “Beachy Head,” capturing hearts with their beautiful, addictive melodies that are nonetheless streaked with darkness, whether they’re singing about romancing a ghost or the infamous suicide spot in Sussex. This marriage with Slumberland (who are releasing the album in North America; Bella Union is handling the record for the rest of the world) is about as perfect as it can get, with the band’s distinctive, esoteric vein of off-center pop nestling comfortably alongside the stellar likes of Crystal Stilts, Frankie Rose, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart and Weekend, among others. Keep an eye out in the autumn for the full length debut, more information on which will be available shortly.
