As Plantas Que Curam out now on Other Music Recording Co.
Young Brazilian pop-psych phenomenon Boogarins begin the final leg of an epic world tour supporting their debut LP, As Plantas Que Curam, out now on Other Music Recording Co./Fat Possum.
As Plantas Que Curam was recorded in their parents’ basements when Fernando Almeida and Benke Ferraz were still in high school, yet the album has drawn comparisons to everyone from Os Mutantes to Tame Impala and White Denim. As a live band, the four-piece has brought these songs to a new level, destroying clubs and festival stages around the world on a tour that began in March at SXSW and has taken them all across the US, UK and Europe, including stops at Austin Psych Fest, Burgerama, and Primavera.
After close to five months on the road, tonight’s Paris show begins a string of headlining club dates across Europe, as well as three shows opening for Neutral Milk Hotel, and winds down with a string of US dates across the East Coast, Midwest and South, interrupted by opening slots with the Clean and Guided By Voices. The band is available for press opportunities and is fluent in both English and Portuguese.
As Plantas Que Curam is available now on vinyl, CD, and digitally through Other Music Recording Co. and on cassette through Burger Records.
“Fortunately, you don’t need to speak the native tongue to be transported by all the burnished guitar textures and deftly chiseled melodies.” – The FADER
“Rich, heavy, and sonorous, the guitar tones sensually warm and the vocals and drums sent through several treatments to blur them and lift them off the ground…Their ear for melody is much stronger and more sophisticated than most bands their age.” – Pitchfork
“This is psychedelic rock-and-roll played with the necessary cosmic abandon, yet tempered with a sweet and intimate warmth.” – The Washington Post
“Brazil’s Boogarins have created an excellent psychedelic pop record.” – KCRW
