Legendary guitarist Peter Walker to tour with Jack Rose

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Peter Walker

Peter Walker

Peter Walker released a seminal experimental acoustic guitar record,
Rainy Day Raga in 1967 on Vanguard. After one other release in
1969, he sort of disappeared, and contemporaries like John Fahey
and Robbie Basho became more well-known. In that time period,
Walker became engrossed in Flamenco guitar and became a master
Flamenco guitarist. Now, almost 40 years since Raga’s release, Peter
Walker is returning to the more experimental style he helped to create
in the 60s, and will be touring for the first time in almost four decades.
A Raga For Peter Walker is also being released via the New York label
Tompkins Square, which features four new recordings from Peter
Walker, and tracks inspired by Mr. Walker from disciples of his work,
including James Blackshaw, Greg Davis, Jack Rose, Thurston Moore
of Sonic Youth, Steffen Basho-Junghans and Shawn David McMillen.

The Little Ones sign with Astralwerks and Heavenly

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

The Little Ones

The Little Ones

Los Angeles five-piece The Little Ones have signed a worldwide deal
with Astralwerks. The band will now specifically call Astralwerks
home in the Americas and Heavenly Recordings in the UK and Europe.
The deal represents the first of it’s kind between the two labels.

According to Astralwerks GM Errol Kolosine, “Heavenly is one of the
world’s most consistently quality labels and has been our partner on
many great releases over the past 5 years. This signing represents
an exciting new way for us to join forces 100% with our shared vision,
aesthetic and approach.”

The Little Ones have quickly established a reputation for their
exhuberatnt, unabashedly feel-good pop - the New York Times called
it “one of the year’s most lovable indie-rock CDs.”

The band was formed in 2005 by Edward Reyes and Ian Moreno,
formerly of Sunday’s Best. Reyes recruited his kid brother Brian,
along with Lee LaDouceur and Greg Meyer and began rehearsing
and writing songs at a rapid pace, resulting in the release of the
Sing Song mini-album which the band initally
self-released - it will now see a proper release via Astralwerks
on October 17, 2006, including a bonus track not on the original
release.

The band quickly found an audience through online praise and shows
in LA, New York, Seattle and San Francisco. This winter they will be
recording their debut full-length in LA which should see a mid-2007
release. The band’s first national tour is also currently underway,
with the French Kicks - remaining dates are listed below, with dates
with Gomez in October and then Small Sins in November. The band
will tour the UK for the first time in January supporting The Boy Least
Likely To.
